How do you do it?

  1. Check availability online at the Lifemiles website.
  2. Share your miles between the two accounts until you have the number of miles listed in the award chart.
  3. Purchase the ticket online at the Lifemiles website.

Limitations

Although you can share as many miles as you want, the bonus is capped at 176,250 miles. If you need more than 149,600 miles, you should consider buying more miles by redeeming for cash + points flight that allows members to purchase up to 60% of the number of miles needed for the award flight.

You cannot book Lufthansa and Swiss First Class.

Nice to know

This is one of the two frequent flyer programs that allow passengers to fly on the entire Singapore Airlines network in Business Class, and Suites Class to Sydney, Delhi and Mumbai.

Air Canada (Aeroplan) has launched a great promotion to purchase deeply discounted Singapore Airlines Business Class tickets between Singapore and China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea or Japan.

Prerequisites

An Air Canada Aeroplan account. You can sign up for a new account here.

A Starwood Preferred Guest account that has been open for 14 days. You can sign up for a new account here.

How do you do it?

  1. Purchase 20,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points.
  2. Transfer 20,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points to 25,000 Aeroplan miles (it will take up to 1 week to transfer the points).
  3.  Redeem an award ticket by using the search tool on the Aeroplan website. An award between Singapore and China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea or Japan will require 30,000 miles. You can purchase 5,000 miles directly from Aeroplan for C$150.

Limitations

It will take up to 1 weeks from purchasing your miles to redeeming an award ticket. Within that period, award availability on Singapore Airlines can change.

There is an annual limit of purchasing 20,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points. If you need more than that you can purchase and redeem miles from other family member accounts.

You cannot redeem flights on Singapore Airlines Business Class that are flown using the Airbus 380 or Boeing 777-300ER.

Award travel is also permitted on All Nippon Airlines, Air China and Thai Airways.

Two stopovers are allowed on this award, so you can fly Singapore – Hong Kong (stop) – Tokyo (destination) – Beijing (stop) – Singapore for the exact same cost.

The official date the miles are posted are generally the date on which the transfer was initiated. The actual date the miles are posted is 10-14 days after the transfer was initiated.
